Stars of the Kanri has a really cool premise, almost a reverse take on artificial intelligence where a man's soul is connected to a partially artificial body like a soul transplant into a space-age version of the six million dollar man. Mix in an unknown planet, different animals and "almost" humans, then throw in Biblical principles and you have this book. The story did as get a bit slow at times, but that is just a personal preference for some more action.

Stars of the Kanri Heavy Metal Cowboy Book 1 edition by Steve Dorning SP Dorning Stephen Dorning Religion Spirituality eBooks Reviews
"Stars of the Kanri" is the first Christian Sci-Fi book I have read, and it was a really good book. The characters reveal inner struggles that we all might face in the face of adversity, and they show a positive way to deal with those struggles. I look forward to more books from Mr. Dorning.
this is truly an amazing book, i have never read anything like it before and it stands alone in originality. the characters are bold and easy to become attached to and the story moves along quickly. but underneath all that is a beautifull story of faith and love. don't miss a chance to dig into this book and not set it down.
S.P. Dorning takes you on an adventure that you never expected. The descriptions are colorful, the story runs along at an even speed but offers the right amount of excitement at the right time.
"Stars of the Kanri" is set in the sci-fi genre but it is a great read for anyone that enjoys a good story. The characters are believable and add a great deal of comfort to the story.
I had planned on reading a little at a time but spent the weekend devouring this book. The only complaint I have is that the next book by Mr. Dorning is not yet available.
Despite a few editing errors (which can easily be looked over) I liked the writing style and think it was an excellent read. The story was original without being too confusing, the plot was interesting, and the action was fun.
One note this book is heavy in religion. I personally thought it was almost a bit overbearing at times, but the story was still allowed to shine through.
This is a very original book, heavy on religion but not preachy, with a sympathetic and heroic set of protagonists as well as a very mysterious and sinister antagonist. I found it engaging, well told, and satisfying in its completion. There are some editing problems and a few quirks of style, but they were not overly distracting. The story was structurally compelling enough that I read it through quickly in spite of those then looked forward to the sequel. I recommend it.
Very heavy on the religion. Did not finish reading this book. Fine if you are only looking for your beliefs to be validated. Very little science.
I had a chance to read this book when it was first released, but I LOVE the new cover. It was an interesting twist of sci-fi and fantasy, with a strand of Christian faith thrown in for good measure. My teen and pre-teen boys also read the book and it was a hit with the whole family. It has enough of the sci-fi elements that you will enjoy it if you are a fan, but not so much that you won't if your aren't.
